Other Aspects of Colonial Life (2k)

This is just a complete hash of spare notes that do not currently have homes yet. As such, this section is very disjointed.

Colonial warrior uniform:

A typical Warriors uniform consists of (firstly) a pressure suit worn under everything else. This protects the Warrior when making high speed manoeuvres stops him blacking out. Which is quite good really as the pilots do not use restraining belts in the cockpit.
Over this pressure suit, the Warriors wears the battlesuit, which consists of boots, tunic and trousers. Over the top of this comes the battle jacket.

Of course, no Warrior would feel complete without a weapon, and the Colonial laser is strapped nice and loose around the belt. Warriors are allowed to wear their laser at all times when in uniform, and in nearly all situations.

Decontamination:

After every long range patrol, and after landing on foreign planets, pilots and crew are supposed to go into decontamination, which involves walking into a small shower cubicle for a few seconds. The Colonials take the fear of infection of foreign organisms very seriously, and so these decon chambers are near the landing bays.

However, as the pilots casually walk past deck crews on the way to the decon chambers, how effective are these really?!

Games:

The Colonials enjoy a few good games. For games of chance they have the 'Pyramid' and 'Seven and Eleven' games. For physical sports, they have 'Triad' which is a four person game (two players per side), where the object is to get the ball into a goal and is sort of like basket ball with hints of rugby thrown in.

Drink:

The Colonials are as fond of their drink as we are, and they have a wide range of beverages to choose from as well. Their equivalent to wine is what they call Ambrosa, which, like normal wine, matures with age.

Notice that Ambrosa has no 'i' in it. It is not a rice pudding, and anyone who thinks Ambrosa is pronounced AmbrosIa should re-watch "The Long Patrol" - hear the pronouciation, look at the spelling on the crates - and then should shoot themselves.

Other drinks include Grog, which is a type of beer or ale, and Baharri, which is a fairly intoxicating spirit. Ales can be further identified from which colony they come from, such as Sagitaran Ale.

Language:

The Colonials have a single main language that unites all twelve Colonies, but each world does have its own dialects and there are many other languages that exist known only to a few. The same is true of the written language but it is known that the Kobolians wrote in hieroglyphs and many of the early copies of the religous texts are still in hieroglyths.

Other Notes:

The Colonies are home to Unicorns.
Colonial robots - when they're used - are always programmed to be polite.
