This Pirate freighter is a the most common type of pirate vessel around. Small freighters are easy to get hold off, and are very modifiable given the right access to parts and labour, or just a willingness to tinker.

This particular modification is also very common and usually fulfils most needs of a small pirate band. It is not intended to run up against Colonial Vipers or military vessels, and contains just enough firepower to persuade a reluctant merchant to stand to and be boarded, although given a shuttle bay full of Attack Shuttles, then it could hold it is own against something larger, at least for a while.

The cargo hold has been depleted, and in its place, the shuttle bay has been expanded. Usually this would contain just normal shuttles for boarding operations, but a couple of Attack Shuttles for escort and assault duties are pretty common. The ship mounts a highly illegal large turbo laser at the bow, and adds several more smaller defensive lasers. Extra power generators are installed to handle the extra power requirements before the ships movement is compromised. Rounding this off are some barracks for the inevitable bands of boarders that the ship will carry.

Not a huge threat, unless you are an unescorted merchant, which is of course the prey.

This small pirate freighter is simply that, a frieghter, and as such it has not got hideous amounts going for it. The ship cannot disenage by acceleration, and can only accelerate by 3 movement points per turn. The ship has 1 shuttle bay, and cannot accept yachts.
The pirate freighter has a hyperspeed multiplier of x1.5.

Note that the freighter does not come with any boarding parties included in the BPV, nor does the BPV include extras such as Attack shuttles. These can all be added at extra cost.
