The Shutoral space forces had lacked any sort of capable scout vehicle and a submission was made for a suitable unit. A combination of the Neuspotter head, which comprised well tested sensors, was utilised for the scouting role, while the lower drive unit of the Kröte was employed to provide motive power and to act as the base for the space drive pack and other components. 70 units were built for trials but these differed from the eventual production version by being armed. These weapons were later dropped due to poor performance. By using existing off the shelf parts costs were kept to a minimum. Subsequently Bomvol und Zionel where issued with an order for 300 units.
The PkA SK602 Gans was the land based variant and was armed with six Neupanzerfaust as standard.
